Thunder 250 komparasi
Thunder 250cc yg di launch pada akhir tahun 99 dan stop produksi thn 2005 sebenarnya memiliki performa yg lumayan tangguh. Thunder 250 masuk kategori sport touring. Produk yang beredar antara tahun 1999-2002 masih CBU alias didatangkan secara utuh dari jepang. Baru pada lansiran 2003-2005 Thunder 250 dirakit di Indonesia (CKD). Untuk tekologi, mungkin masih diatas kompetitor 200cc-an sebelum kehadiran Ninja 250r. Di jejali Twin Swirl Chombustin Chamber (TSCC) yg menyebabkan pengabutan udara dan bahan bakar di ruang bakar berefek putaran kembar sehingga pembakaran makin cepat. Dalam mesin 1 silindernya jg menganut 4 katup/klep (2 isap & 2 buang) sehingga mampu menyemburkan tenaga 20 Hp/dk di kitiran 7500 rpm. Untuk power motor commuter, Thunder 250 termasuk dahsyat.Sayang seiring naiknya kurs mata uang ¥en (jepang), mendatangkan thunder 250 dalam bentuk terurai sekalipun semakin tidak efisien mengingat pasarnya juga segmented. PT IMNI selaku ATPM Suzuki R2 memutuskan untuk tak lagi mempertahankannya.
Ada beberapa kekurangan menurut penggunanya yaitu: terlalu menganut style touring, dimana handling untuk manuver kurang lincah disebabkan sok depan yg terlalu tinggi & sudut rake yg lebar 28°, ban depan menggunakan ring 18' semetara belakang 17', tidak ada indikator Bbm, dan keberadaan sparepart yg tergolong sulit & mahal saat ini.
